The SV42 is a compact and robust vibration sensor used to monitor and detect misalignment or imbalance in motors, fans, centrifuges, compressors, generators and other machinery. Widely used in industrial applications, the vibration sensor is a key part of any plant’s preventive maintenance plan.
How does it work? The sensor measures the mechanical vibration speed in a range of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mm/s (RMS) on non-rotating surface and converts it to signal 4…20mA (2-wire) proportional with great precision and stability even when applied to large equipment.
The SV42 can be installed with a threaded fixed base or magnetic base (recommended when you need to remove or easily move the sensor). An explosion proof (Exd) housing can be integrated for applications in hazardous areas.

Vibration sensors are a key part of any plant’s preventative maintenance program. However, these parts are often overlooked during planning and construction. Sitron’s vibration sensors are an inexpensive way of safeguarding critical rotating machine systems. On pumps for example, a vibration monitor can advise the operator of faulty conditions such as run dry. The cavitation of a pump deprived of liquid will vibrate much differently than a pump under normal conditions. Vibration transmitters can be used to alarm the system and disactivate the pump before any permanent damage has occured.
